How is summer already over? It feels like we were just thawing out from winter, full of big dreams about PTO that involved lazy days on the water, soaking up the sun, and bonfires that went late into the night.

As great as that all sounds, somewhere along the line, the realities of summer fully set in, and the weather got a little too hot, the lake water got suspiciously warm, and suddenly the only bonfire you were tending to was the email pile in your inbox. So needless to say, I'm not mad about trading swampy afternoons for crisp fall breezes. But I am deeply unprepared for the reality that work is starting to pick up again, and winter is lurking like an unwelcome meeting invite. 

So before we're buried under snow, deadlines, and holiday gift exchanges we didn't sign up for, it's time to cash in that sweet, sweet PTO.
